INDIA!!!!!!!
So we're here, at our Delhi hotel, it's 715am on 1 October. It was an adventure.
The plane left LAX 3 hours late, so we figured we'd probably miss our connection in Istanbul. The pilot must have been pushing the throttle though, because we arrived in about an hour and a half less time than scheduled. Searching the Departure board after de-planing we could see our Delhi flight listed with the note: go to gate, meaning the plane hadn't yet left.
Where is my body
At 40,000 feet high?
Grounding in prayer helps.
Now, where was Gate F18? Turns out it was at least a mile power walk........no exaggeration.....from where we were, so that's what we did. And there were the lines of people waiting to board. We got our aerobic workout for the day, made our flight and arrived on time in Delhi a couple + hours ago.......a bit the worse for wear. Our arranged for car picked us up as planned, and got us safely to Wangdhen House in Majnukatilla, where we're resting in the lobby and awaiting check in time in a few hours. Breakfast somewhere soon in the meantime.
Aah, we have returned!
to a soft Delhi dawn light
gracing our welcome
Aside from the anxiety producing timing, which I suppose happens with some regularity with international flights, Turkish Airlines is quite good, including the meals. No problem recommending them, should the option arise.
Wongdhen Cafe just down the lane, mouth watering extraordinary bakery, beautiful big open space seating on cushioned comfy furniture, and artfully prepared and presented, not to mention delicious food. A wonderful culinary experience, and all for about $9US.
AND......to top it off, we spent time meeting and interestingly conversing with Lionel (pronounced Lee-o-nel) from Berlin, who happened to be sitting in the window seat to Nancy's isle seat row from Istanbul.
A lovely few hours before our rooms were ready, rest, shower, and meeting up again for dinner. Lionel's first trip to India, heading off to Agra (Taj Mahal), and Rishikesh (on recommendation of his friend in Berlin) to see about some spiritual possibilities.
A cultural journalist, photographer, so much to see and perhaps document.
Glad you arrived safe and sound and surprisingly not too many hiccups in the end. Next stop Sherabling looking forward to the next instalment.
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen, would you be good enough to share here just what you did on the blog in order to be able to leave comments? People are saying they can't figure that out. Hugs.
